Start with the basics

We’re all guilty of channeling our full attention, utmost energy and sole focus into the end result. We forget however that the end result is infact a direct reflection of the basics. It’s simple, nail the basics and you’ll improve your end result tenfold.

Hydration, nutrition, NEAT, sleep, stress levels, we’d class them all as the basics. Without a solid foundation your end result simply isn’t going to be a fraction of what it could. So strip it back, spend some time looking at what your basics actually consist of. How much water are you drinking, how much sleep are you getting, what do your activity levels outside of the gym look like, are you nourishing your body with what nutrients it needs to optimally aid your recover, what do your stress levels look like?

In reality if you’re not covering all bases, no matter how often you take yourself to the gym, how hard you thrash yourself during your workout you simply won’t see a fraction of the results you so desire. So strip it back; find yourself a solid and consistent baseline and build upwards from there.
